Tanya Burton | Occupational Therapist
Tanya graduated from University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. Tanya developed a passion for hand and upper limb rehabilitation in University, and this was further consolidated during her experience overseas and whilst working with young children. As well as participating in the Full Circle Hand Therapy Fellowship Program, Tanya is working towards her full accreditation with the Australian Hand Therapy Association. She also works for a non-profit organisation in paediatrics, which has contributed to her interest in children and upper limbs.
Tanya has spent time volunteering as an occupational therapist in Cambodia and worked at the Queen Elizabeth rehab centre, giving her a wide range of patients and conditions to help and treat. Her personal experience in elite level tennis contributes to her understanding of the demands of high level athletes and the complexities they face when challenged with an upper limb injury.
It is integral to Tanya’s therapeutic model that intervention improves wellbeing, and that a holistic framework should be used involving physical movement, social interaction and working towards each patient’s personalised goal.
